"LYNN EPSTIEN: Okay. Now, that you've demonstrated how to make the different designs whether it's monster toast, the tree, a sun, a letter, now you can pass out the paper plates and the brushes. And again, ask them to raise their hand if you want them. "Who wants one?" "I do." A good way to treat--teach pronouns; I, me, it's mine. Mine is a very powerful word for a toddler. It's good to teach them that for better or for worse. So, now they have all their little plates, alright? So, let's pretend they've painted all their stuff and "Oh, no. Johnny's is so soggy!" 'cause he just kept painting and painting and want to do it over and over and this happens. They'll push it through 'cause they're not very skilled and so you kinda have this really soggy mess. Don't worry about it. You have a spatula. It takes care of everything. Just scoop it up, open your toaster oven. Now you see why vertical will not work for this activity. You really need the toaster oven and just slide them in, same with your other bread. And the nice thing about this, you can usually fit a lot in. And when working with a few kids, they want to see the product at the end altogether. So, put it in the toaster oven and that's ready to toast. Make sure you put it to medium because if it gets too dark, you won't really see the design and too light, the food coloring really won't come out. So, I put it on a nice medium and you could really see the designs. But don't let them look."
