"LYNN EPSTIEN: So, some other designs are--you can make a little happy face. If they can't make the monster face, you could just go with the two eyes and show them how to do that. And you're demonstrating so take the time to show them. "Look, just dot it. Make the eyes. Here, just make a line. That's the mouth." You're done. Make it easy and make them feel like they're accomplishing something. You can just do a rainbow. Flip the toast over if they don't like it and it's not too soggy and you can make rainbows with them and that's an easy stroke especially for young kids because all it is, is a line. And really, at the age of two and three, they're really only copying lines at that point. Circles are a little bit tough so you're going to see a lot of lopsided circles. Alright. I need some purple in there since I made it special. Alright. So, we have that or if there--you start to work on some letters and numbers, what a fun way to practice the alphabet, right? "What letter are you working on, Johnny?" "Oh, I'm working on C." "Excellent. Let's make a C." or since we're doing monster toast, "Hey, let's make an M for monster." Do your own little Sesame Street action here. So, now you have some alternates so that everybody should be able to make something. And if they're just poking around, making dots and designs, big deal. That's cool too, alright? So, just let them have fun. They can make letters, faces, rainbows and something you might not even recognize. Just ask them what it is because that's your opportunity to tell them about the monster or the happy face they're making. Alright. When they're all painted up, we're ready for the next step."
