"LYNN EPSTEIN: Alright, now, this is a teaching moment so you really got to milk the moment. Yes, every pun intended, milk the moment. Alright, when you're doing these things, I want you to talk about what you're doing but simplify the language that you use 'cause you are working with toddlers. So when you get to pouring the milk, just say, "I pour milk. We are pouring. Time to mix. Who wants to do it?" This is the time to teach them about raising their hands, some manners. You can also talk about sequencing. "First, I will do this. Next, I will mix. After, I will do this. Last, this is what comes next." So it gives them an idea sequencing and understanding about time concepts. See, cooking teaches you all these things, action, color, sequencing. It's so genius but easy. You're going to love it. Just remember to ask questions and keep the kids involved because the next time you do it, they'll know what's going on and they'll be able to predict what's happening and their talk time will be higher than yours. Just being the John Madden play by play and talk about everything you're going to do during the demonstration. Kind of like I'm doing now, but use simple sentences and probably talk a little slower. Alright, we're getting ready for the next step. I'm actually making the monster toast. Hmm, ready? Chocolate milk will be for later. Monster toast is right now. Alright, let's get started."
