Series Summary

One of the easiest ways to introduce your child to the world of artistic exploration is to allow them the freedom to initiate and participate in their very own art projects. One very simple but truly fun project for children and adults is making clay animal shapes from colorful clay. Your kids will love working with you to create 3D clay figurines and you'll love watching your child discover their artistic potential.

In this series of free arts & crafts videos you'll see a demonstration of how to make several types of animals from soft colored clay. Expert Rachel Dayan shows you step by step instructions for making a cow, a bear, an elephant and a lady bug, as well as a fruit tree and basket from clay. These projects are easy and lots of fun for kids.

"Hi I'm Rachel Dayan for Expert Village today I'm going to show you how to make animals and objects out of clay it's a fun activity to do with your children together. It can be adults, grandparents, parents, friends, children, doing an activity together it helps kids develop creativity it's good for there motor skill, they enjoy it, you enjoy it. And they feel good about themselves after they see a nice project that they did especially if they did it with you, it makes them feel important. I like to use the clay that is it doesn't get hard so if they don't like it or they want to do some corrections the next day they can still do it. It doesn't dry off but you can do the same things with the clay that does get hard or there is a female that you make your own shapes and then you cook it in the oven. We're not going to do it today but it's an option to if you want to have something that stays for a longer time."
