Video Transcript

"This is our snack area at Northstar Montessori Preschool. This is part of giving the children independence and helping them to be able to serve themselves. This is one of the things that we have out all the time when school is in session. We have cups, we have a little container of water, and a little wedge that they can put the cup into. So when they put the cup in here, the pour the water in here. If they've made, if they spill any, all they do is they take this wedge and they go and they water the plant with it. So it just sets them up for success, so they feel that even if they make a mess that they can always take of it. And we have sponges at the sink area and they always know exactly where they're at so they can clean the mess up themselves. When we have snack for the day, we just put the snack here and they serve themselves snack as well. There's the silverware and plates and all the things they need right here, so they can always grab it and then they know exactly where to put it back because there's an area by the sink."
