"I am going to give you some tips on knowing you picked the right childcare center for you and your child. First of all give yourself a transition time. It is a new environment and a new transition. It will take some time for your child to become comfortable in his new environment. After a smooth transition time, observe your child is he appearing to happy going to school? Is he talking about school or about friends that he is making? Activities that he is involved in during the day and positive or negative comments about his teachers? Does he sometimes cry to leave? This is a good sign. It shows you that he enjoys his day and feels safe away from you? Do you observe him learning? Other than his letters, numbers and colors, does he show social skills? Is he showing self-control? Do you see him growing within himself? Is he showing compassion for his world and for others? Upon pick-up, is he involved in play, or is standing at the door waiting or crying for you? Last but not least, trust your instincts. You know your child better than anyone you know what makes him happy, what makes him sad, and what makes him feel safe."
