"Hello! My name is Cindy Glover and I am going to talk about the library or the reading center. In an early childhood classroom you will look for a library or reading center within the classroom. This is usually over in the corner in a quiet place in the room where there will be children’s books available and soft chairs or pillows for children to relax on. This center is open along with the other centers at center play time during their daily schedule. Children are encouraged and have available to them a variety of books which they are encouraged to look at and read to one another and to make up their own stories. This starts a foundation for reading within children. It helps them to start recognizing letters, patterns of letters and words and to just build the excitement of reading books."
