"I want to talk a little bit about fostering your children's creativity. Now a lot of parents think that, well children are naturally creative and they will just kind of find different ways to express that creativity. And this is very true I actually think that one of the things that is missing from a lot of children's lives is having free unstructured play time there is a lot to be said about children not having specific, ridged activities and rules and things of that nature so that they are able to really fully just explore different ways of playing and different ways of thinking. And as you can see here we have got a couple of activities that can fall into that category. Something like play doe or tinker toys really helps to stimulate children's minds and they can create all kinds of different objects, drawing, painting, dancing those kind of thing are all part of that. Another activity that I know my kids really enjoy is playing dress up as a matter of fact both of my kids have a entire drawer each devoted to dress up types of clothing. And another thing that I will sometimes do to help to foster their creativity is , instead of just getting a book out and reading it. I might find a book that has some particularly interesting pictures such as this one right here and without reading any of the text I'll ask the kids what do they think is going on in that picture or I'll ask them to make up a story about that picture so I'll say "what do you think that they are doing?" and "what do you think is in those bowls?" and ?where do you think that they live?" and "what kind of lives do you think these people have?". And so it just really helps children to think outside of the box and their not, your not putting any kind of boundaries or limitations on their play or their thinking."
