"Hi, I'm Karina Fraley for Expert Village and we're talking about different ways to help keep our children safe at theme parks. We're gong to move on to water parks now. Water parks are sort of their own animal and carry with them numerous risks and very serious, potentially serious risks for both young children, older children and even adults. If you are going to take your child to a water park you really have to be vigilant about where they are every single second and you have to not just know where they are but you really need to be within an arm's reach of your child at all times. A child can drown very quickly and a child who knows how to swim can actually have a very false sense of security in the water and really be in harms way the entire time that they're at the water park if they're not being supervised properly. You really want to be sure that you really adhere to the guidelines, sometimes the areas are separated into different age groups and you really don't want to send your small child into water slides that can be overwhelming for them. Really understand that they can drown, a child can drown at a water park just like they can in the bathtub at home or out in the ocean or the swimming pool. You really have to respect the water and be vigilant, that you are with your children every single second at a water park."
