"Hi! I'm Karina Fraley for Expert Village, and today I'm giving you some tips on baby proofing your bedroom. Dressers are something that need to be tethered to the wall. I know that they're not as high as bookcases, which are things that usually just get automatically tethered to the wall first thing, or they should anyway. The problem with the dresser is that soon enough, a baby is going to start to be mobile and they're going to be able to crawl over. They're going to start exploring, pulling out drawers, and opening them all up. Once they've opened up a few of them and used one to hoist themselves up to stand up, this becomes top heavy and it can come tumbling down. The whole entire thing can come tumbling down on your baby and you don't want that to happen. Be sure that you go ahead and tether your dresses even if you don't think that they're high enough to fall over, because they can potentially be. Also, with drawers you're going to want to install latches because you don't want your baby to stick their little fingers and slam them in there. It can cause broken bones and you certainly don't want that."
