"DON VARNEY: Hi, I'm Don Varney, founder of Varney Speaks, and I'm here on behalf of Expert Village. Upon arrival at your hotel, there are some things that are very important that you do. The first thing that you want to do always is meet the key personnel and then go and check out the location that you're going to be speaking to ensure that everything is right. Let's go find the key personnel. Well, I tell you, you walk into the room, the first thing you have to do is you have to begin checking your room over. Today, what we're doing is a corporate training environment where I'll be here dealing with people in a roundtable situation but I'll also be the person that will be working off of the information in the board. In a room like this, the things that we have to concern ourselves with, is to ensure there are sufficient chairs for everybody that's supposed to be in the meeting. Secondly, if you're actually involved in the setup, you'd want to ensure that there is water available, at a minimum, or whatever refreshments you've agreed on. The other thing is if you're going to be using your laptop as part of the presentation that you're making, you need to ensure that you have your wireless set up and you're ready to go. Check the board--and one of the things you always want to do is look and make sure that you've got the important things. If you going to write, you need to make sure that your marker's there and then you just quickly scratch on the board to make sure that it's a live marker. The other thing that so many people forget about is the eraser. You want to make sure that if you're going to be putting information down, that you want to be able to put it down and then remove it if necessary. So these are just some of the things that you want to look at when you begin your preparation for your corporate training speaking."
