"Alright, the first thing we want to talk about is, what not to do. And there are several things that you don't want to do. Whether it's a report, a proposal, especially in a speech. And the first one is; Don't take too long to get to the point. There's obviously a point to your story, or whatever it is your presenting. Don't keep the audience hanging too long before you get there. Don't ramble on, don't give a lot of filler information, don't give a lot of stories. Or otherwise your audience is going to be going, "Come on, come on, come on come on. What's the point of this? What's the point of this?" And if we never get to the point before they lose attention then they're not going to care about the point anymore. So, it's good to have preliminary information before you get to the point. Whatever the point is, whether it's a persuasive message, whether it's the main point of the story. Just put in what you need, what is essential, before you get to that point."
