"Ok, one of the very obvious choices for visual aides is a chalkboard, or what I have right here behind me, which is called a white board. These are wonderful for, for using them in the moment. Now, you might put something up on the board ahead of time, but if I'm trying to explain something to you right now, it's nice, I can just turn right around and say, ok, it would look like this, is what I'm talking about. The thing about chalkboards and white boards, they are not good if you have a whole lot of information that you want to present. Use them just for little short term, little quick bits, little quick sets of words. You don't want to go into anything elaborate, anything complex on a chalkboard or a white board. Something else that you need to know about chalkboards and white boards is, although they are wonderful, and the majority of college classrooms, many meeting rooms, many, many places have them, but some do not. So, as you're preparing your visual aides, you cannot assume that it will exist in the room where you're going to be presenting. If you really, really need it, you need to call ahead and find out if it exists or if it could exist in the room. Otherwise, don't plan it as part of your visual aide, because you will show up and it won't be there, and that'll throw you off."
