Cut Fresh Flower for Corsages & Boutonnieres

"Hi! My name is Amelia Tallman, and on behalf of Expert village.com, I am here today talking about creating wearable flowers. We are going to talk about, now, how long to cut the stem that you are going to use. Now, it is different for different things. If you are doing a corsage, you really don’t want very much stem on here at all, because it is going to impede the flexibility and your mobility. So, if this were going in a corsage or boutonnières, I would only leave a half inch to an inch of stem on the rose itself, such as this. You will work in wire later that will allow you to attach this to the rest of the corsage or boutonniere. Now, in terms of hair garland generally you are using a flower such as a daisy or a mum, in which the stems are a little thinner; and in this case, you can go ahead and give yourself a little bit more of a stem to work with, not too long, but probably 2-3 inches is a good length; and again wire will be attached to these to allow you to work. So, those are good lengths to start with for building your corsage or boutonnière and your hair garland. "
