Series Summary

Homecoming is an annual event that usually revolves around an American football game where schools welcome back alumni. Centered around the football game, activities include a parade and the crowning of a Homecoming Queen and King. At many high schools, dates exchange mums (corsages) for the girls to wear to the game and garters for the boys to wear. A homecoming mum is an elaborate corsage that consists of a large chrysanthemum which has long ribbons, trinkets and other decorum hanging from it. The garters that the boys wear are a smaller version of the garter that fit on the arm of the young man.

In this series of expert videos, you will learn how to make your own homecoming corsage. Get expert tips on ribbons, flowers and trinkets to add to your mum. Our expert demonstrates how to add ribbons to the corsage and how to put a special message on the ribbons. Various trinkets often used on homecoming mums include footballs, hearts, stars, and megaphones. Watch as our expert makes a garter in the same fashion and make your own homecoming corsage and garter.

And here is a man’s garter; it has one of these in the back of it, on the wrist. I prefer them small but you can make them big but just not that big. Also so men put them right here. For guys I prefer not to be so long, it gets on my nerves. But we’re going to be making this"
