"This is John with Expert Village and I'm still talking about making logos. Now, look at it as a whole, take your text off and then decide is this what you really want? Layer, select, inverse and hit delete button. Now, this is just completely out there sort of logo, but in this instance you want to try out your filters. The filters can completely change what you have. For instance let's go to cutout and what this is going to do is it's going to take these basic little levels and you can simplify them or you can change the actual graphic or the actual color so it creates a different dynamic. Let's say for instance if it's still a little bit too weird, too out there and you kind of like the round part, let's try maybe a blur. You know it depends on what you want. Here, if you create a blur, you can create a totally different form or fill to your logo, almost like a cloud here. So you bring up the blur maybe it fits, you know you're dealing with a science company and you want something a little more interesting, then see it's kind of more elusive and so you can pull this up there and you have yourself a simple background.
