"I'm Romie Brown. On behalf of Expert Village, I'm her to discuss a few tips on tid bit on how to buy homeowner's insurance. In this clip, we will discuss choosing the right insurance company. You spend a lot of time looking at different homes, different neighborhoods and what not, and then when it comes to actually picking and insurance company, you usually waste about 3, 4, or 5 minutes. Pick somebody out of the phone book and then go with what they offer you. It's very important to do your research when looking at different companies. Then once you get that company that you want to affiliate with, then you're looking at different agents. Most companies do sell through agents, so I will ask you to look at your agent first and see what he or she has to offer. It's very important that that person is knowledgeable about insuring that home and looking at what you have to insure. All homeowner policies are not created equal or all shouldn't be the same because individual has different things that need to have insured. For example, some have more jewelry that others. Some have more personal property than others and some homes have things that need special floaters or writers for. It's important to make sure that you discuss this with your insurance professional. After you do the research with that and you decide on a professional, then you need to bring all these things to the table and make sure that he or she as your agent understands exactly what they're covering. When you leave there, you shake that person's hands, you insure that you insure everything that you have to be sure that you're properly covered."
