"Hello! This is Jacqueline on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this clip I am going to offer you a list of tips for working at home when you have children around. Create short cuts in your work and do similar tasks and similar activities all at the same time. I think we already touched on that. Just break down big jobs into smaller jobs so that it doesn't seem so overwhelming. Simplify your life in way of like grocery shopping for meals that you know that your family only eats; 10 or 15 certain meals then you don't need to get fancy all of the time. If you are trying to save time, identify the meals, make your menus, select your ingredients. When you run out of those ingredients, get more; keep it simple. Don't expect too much from yourself or from your family or children. They are not going to be angels; its never going to happen so just work with it and realize that everyday is going to be a challenge and just overcome your challenges. Nobody expects you to be perfect and if you think you are going to be perfect, then you are going to be disappointed. So just be realistic and that includes keeping your house clean. Don't try to keep your house spotless. If they laundry doesn't get folded or the dishes don't get washed right away or the bed doesn't get made, nobody is going to be hurt. If you have to let something slide, let it slide but to an extent. Don't get ridiculous and let your house fall apart. It's okay to let things be a little bit sloppy so raise your level of tolerance for chaos. Keep yourself motivated. It has to come from within. It's not going to come from anywhere else. No one else knows your dream, no one else is going to put your goals as your priority so make sure you motivate yourself, stay focused, learn from your mistakes, learn from other people's mistakes, stay confident and be passionate about what you do and it will all work out in the long run. Just keep all these tips in mind and it will all work out in the long run; just keep all these tips in mind. From one working at home parent to another, good luck."
