"Hi! This is Jim Goettler with Expert Village and this is a video about how to form and operate non-profit organization. In this segment, I am going to touch on the solicitation of grants, trying to raise the money you are going to need to operate your organization. First of all what 501's are not is a an instant way to make a lot of money. People seem to think if they get that letter that grants are going to fall in their laps. Unfortunately, it's just not true. It's going to take a lot of work on your part to raise those funds due to research, to do the research, the receptions, concerts, fund raisers and the options you are going to need to operate. There is no reason you can't start thinking those terms now. Well before you actually have that C-3 termination letter. Again, you are allowed to operate as you are a 501 C-3 for 16 months after your cooperation. It's a good idea to get use to the process so that when the time comes, you will be ready to do it. IN the next segment, I am going to touch on board development. Developing your board of directors so that it suits the needs of your organization. "
