"In this clip we are going to discuss the two basic design elements that are part of most company logos. For this task we will be using Adobe Illustrator for its useful layout capabilities. Now Illustrator is a registered trademark of Adobe and I am in no way affiliated with Adobe. The first of the two elements is the logo. Traditionally it is a strong visual icon that identifies a company often without using text. For instance, a landscaping company might use a stylized image of a tree or a lawnmower whereas a software design company that specializes in educational purposes might use a silhouette of a one room school house or an open book. The second design element typically used is called the logo type. This is usually the company's name displayed in a standard or customized type face. Much like an icon the logo type when well designed can be affectively displayed on its own. Depending on the design situation the company can choose to use a logo or logo type separately or together on their marketing materials. And when designed correctly both will be equally successful in conveying brand awareness. And that concludes this clip on the two basic design elements that make up a company logo."
