International Written Communication: Transitions

"Something else that's really important in correspondence when there's a cultural difference is transitional elements. And what I mean by transitional elements is when you go from paragraph to paragraph, you want to make sentences, you want to put in statements that are basically saying I just told you about this, now I'm going to tell you about this. It's very similar to the concept of reiterating what you're saying, but if I'm talking paragraph A and I'm giving X amount of information in paragraph A, before I go onto paragraph B, I want to make a statement about where we've been, ie, what I've said, and where we're going. What I'm going to say next. And you want to have transitional statements between all of your paragraphs and prior to your concluding paragraph. And that will really help your reader out a lot."
