"Alright, one of the things that you want to do when you're communicating with people from other cultures, and of course, as far as I'm concerned, you should do this with everyone but especially when you are communicating with people from other cultures, is you want to eliminate noise. And what I'm talking about, noise, there's two kinds: there's actually noises that are going on in the environment, primarily people talking around you, maybe the t.v.'s going, maybe the computer's clicking, the keyboard's clicking, whatever it is, things in the environment that are distractions, you want to get rid of those; sometimes internal distractions, which are also called noise, can get in the way as well. Internal noise is being hungry, being tired, being in a fight with somebody, having emotional...being upset about things, being cold, being hot, whatever it is. So you want to try to eliminate all that noise whenever you're trying to deal, talk to, communicate, deal with people from other cultures."
