"Now it's also very important that you are realistic in what you want to gain from your audience. Now we're probably talking about persuasion. You're probably asking for something, you need something from this audience that is unwilling or possibly hostile. It is unrealistic for you to believe that you can go into a group of pro-lifers and ask them for money to support an abortion clinic. That's just not going to happen. That is just so not going to happen. That is an unrealistic goal. You must approach your speech in realistic goals. What is realistic? Is it realistic to get them to listen to you? That may be it. Is it realistic for them not to picket and protest? You must start small. Just like in the last clip where we talked about how you're going to deliver, you know, your delivery is going to increase. Well, your goals must increase. The first meeting, don't go for the big thing if you know you're not going to get the big thing. It's called foot in the door. Just put your foot in there just a little bit and then just a little bit more and a little bit more and a little bit more."
