"Now, in every speech it is important that you start your speech off with a strong attention-getter. And that you get the attention of the audience early on. It is exceptionally even more important when you're dealing with an unwilling audience that you get their attention early on. You must go one step further than the startling statement, or the story, or the joke. You must have, be absolutely for sure that whatever you have selected for your attention getter is going to get their attention. And you need to carry that through, throughout the speech. What is it that they're going to relate to? Pick that for your attention-getter, and refer back to that attention-getter throughout the speech to keep them related to you."
