"The first thing we want to talk about is some things that you want to be when you're giving your retirement speech, all right. First, you want to be light hearted. This is a joyous event even if you're not really so sure about retirement. This is still a celebration of your work accomplishments so you want to make your speech light hearted and very personal. You want to keep things very personal. You should probably know the people that you worked with and for, call them by name; this is not a formal speech. It's very casual. Keep it very personal with regards to relationships and events that you might talk about, very important that you be sincere. Hopefully you are leaving on good terms. I think if they are throwing you a party and maybe giving you a gift you probably are leaving on good terms, but in the things that you say to your co-workers before you leave, you want to be sincere, and lastly you want to be thankful. You want to be thankful that you had this opportunity to work for this company, to do the job that you did, to work with the people that you worked for, and it's just a moment for you to reflect and be appreciative for all that you've had and all that you've experienced together."
