"Welcome to Regal Reptiles. We just talked about setting up our heat on our tegus and now we got a heat pad on both our 10 gallon tank as well as our larger enclosures. On some of the really larger closures you could of actually really use a pig blanket which is a very big heat pad. Now we're going to talk about lighting and it's important that you have a daylight cycle and a night cycle so we're going to give them 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of night time. If the lights are on all the time or it's never on they kind of blend together and makes them not eat as well. You can provide your tegus with incandescent light which gives off a little nice basking spot or I prefer a full spectrum light that does UVA as well as UVB. That is going to help them stimulate their appetite, we're going to put that into a clamp and we're going to hang it right above the tank. In a very big enclosure you can actually get track lighting and mounted into the closure and put different light spots so they can have basking areas where ever they go."
