"Our water monitors carnivorous they like to eat meat; they eat anything they can find. We give them sometimes, we'll give them live mice or baby mice which are called pinkeys. A lot of times we will give them frozen mice. These are some frozen mice that already have been defrosted and we'll actually put some vitamins and this is just some straight up calcium on the mice. That gives him monitors a little extra vitamins and they also make a multi vitamin that has calcium and B, D3 and also other vitamins. This is a mineral that has D3 as well as calcium and we'll give them some crickets too and we'll put some powder right on our crickets. These crickets are dusted up with the powder and then the big water monitor is going to want to eat the frozen mice. They will also eat live mice but you want to be real careful if you feed live mice to your lizard. Every once in a while a live mice will win that fight. So we like to use frozen whenever possible and with that frozen mice, we defrost them and we wrap them in a ziplock bag. We put them in hot hot water until they are warm and gushy all the way through and then well take them out of the bag. If you just put them in hot water, sometimes they lose their mouse flavor and the animals won't want to eat them as much."
