"Welcome to Regal Reptiles. Now that we have our reptile setup in his cement mixing bend, we are going to learn how to properly heat and take care of his temperature requirements. These Russian tortoises during the day they like to get very very warm, they like to bask and we're going to give him a basking light that is also full spectrum. We're going to get to that in the next section cause that is very important. But if your house if cooler at night, if you get below 68-69 degrees what we're going to do we're going to get a heat pad and this heat pad here sticks to the bottom of cement mixing bend. It's controlled, it will keep that area of that bend about 10-15 degrees above the ambient so it's going to stick right underneath his closure. We're going to plug that in and that is going to take care of his temperature needs. What he'll do is when he's cool he'll sit on the hot side of the pin and as he warms up he'll go back away toward the cooler side of the pin. These are available at any quality pet stores. We don't use a recommended heat rocks because the animal can get hurt so be careful not to use heat rocks."
