"Welcome back to Regal Reptiles. We're going to tell you a little bit about how to tell if your monitor is healthy and how to keep him healthy. This guy here just ate a whole plate full of mice and you don't want to over feed your monitor. If you give him too much food, that can make him sick just as much not giving him enough food. These are cold blooded animals. Their metabolism is very slow so they don't need to eat a whole ton of food. So this guy here has a nice round fat tail, he has a nice fat belly and he's actually shedding a little bit right now. That is another thing to watch out for if they are shedding and their shed keeps sticking. You can see he has all of his toes and their shed sticks around their toes. It's really important to get that off and you can turn up your humidity. You want to make sure that they are never sneezing or coughing or making any kind of noises like that cause your monitor can get a respiratory infection from not being the correct humidity or not being the correct temperature. That is very difficult to take care of so the proper thing to do is just keep the correct temperature, the correct humidity and the correct amount of food and you have to figure that out. The food is very difficult to figure out but as long as you have a nice fat tail like this, he's active and alert. You are doing pretty good with your temperatures and your food."
