"Hi, I'm Kelly here on behalf of AA Callister and ExpertVillage.com. Today were talking about how to choose a winter horse blanket. Now there is several different variety's of winter horse blankets, so when you look on the package, it will usually say something like light weight, medium weight, heavy weight and extra heavy weight. So a light weight blanket is going to be for temperatures that don't get below forty degrees. They also usually have about a 600 denier or less outer layering. So the layering on the outside is about 600 or less, the lining can vary depending on the light weight blanket and the insulation is going to be about 8 ounces or 220 grams or less. That would be considered a lightweight blanket. Lightweight blankets are good for mild climates for warm barns or if you don't care has a little bit of a hair coat, not a long one but he's going to have a little bit a hair coat with a lightweight blanket. Lightweight blankets are also really good for Spring and Fall because the temperature doesn't fluctuate so much. So that's why you would choose a light weight blanket is for a Spring or Fall environment or a climate that doesn't get below 40 degrees."
