Hi, on behalf of Expert Village.com I'm Shelly here with A. A. Callister in Salt Lake City, Utah. We're talking about how to purchase a winter horse blanket. I'd like to show you the parts of a horse blanket. Now this is an open front blanket. Which means it opens in the front so it's got some closures, some buckles here. So we got little buckles in the front of this blanket. And this one also has velcro for the closure in the front. Now these are called hood connectors or neck rug connectors or some people even call them neck cover protectors. That's what these buckles are for here. Sometimes they are just a D ring here in the center and on each side of the blanket. It just depends on which blanket you choose. So if you see some buckles or fasteners here around the neck that is for the hood protector or excuse me the neck covers and the neck rugs. That is what those are going to be for. Now down here we have some belly straps and each blanket is made just a little bit different. Sometimes they just have a single belly strap that goes underneath. Sometimes they have 2 straight belly straps that will go straight underneath. This one has 3 belly straps. One that goes straight and 2 that go criss cross. So each blanket is a little different and you'll just have to pick up your blanket and see how the belly straps go on that one. Now there's also blankets called belly band blankets and they don't have little skinny nylon straps. They actually have a full maybe about two foot or three foot depending on the blanket. A full belly band blanket that wraps underneath and goes up on the other side and usually attaches with velcro or snaps or buckles. So that is a belly band blanket. Coming back here to the back this blanket has a tail strap just to help it keep closed in the back. It also has a tail curtain or tail cover. Some blankets this is removeable and some blankets its not. It just depends on your blanket and like we were talking about turnout blankets will have tail covers where stable blankets usually do not have a tail cover. Then some blankets also have leg straps. This blanket does not have a leg strap, but some of the other blankets that we've shown do. And what they are is they will just come from one side of their flank and gasc and then go right back up and attach on the other side. And it's just a way to keep the blanket from shifting when they are rolling or playing. It just kinda holds it in place better. So those are some of the parts of a winter horse blanket.
