"First thing that we're going to, that these, we like this three phase filter here, made by Aqua Clear. There are other ones that other companies make, but we like the Aqua Clear. This is a basic sponge here. And this used to do the job of all biological filtration. Main thing that it does, is it traps large particles, and sort of serves as a vacuum. So we're going this goes on the bottom here. And lift this little basket up, put that down. When this gets, when this gets dirty you can clean this with tap water. Used to be, that you'd clean it with aquarium water because it used to do biological filtration. But now it, we have something else for that, we'll get to that in a minute. So, you can rinse that out with tap water, and that will be very dirty. Especially if you don't do a good job of cleaning, if you overfeed your fish. So we got that. Next thing, we're going to add to our filter is this activated carbon. This is carbon that is very porous, this will absorb odors and impurity and chemical imbalances. Very important to have good porous activated carbon that is able to absorb all those impurities so your fishies can be happy."
