"So I'm just going to put the cage carpet right here in the bottom. Now these cage carpet liners are pre-cut to fit each specific size of tanks. So just look for it in your local pet store. They should have a product just like this one or comparable to it, if you have a turtle that does seem to have some eye problems, which dirt tends to complicate. So now that I've got the bottom layer in there, I can add her shelter, which I picked up at the pet store. I believe this was originally made for aquatic terrariums, such as frogs. It has a ramp here on either side with a little basking area on top. I like to use this for her because it gives her plenty of space and wide enough entries to be able to fit herself into. Sometimes it's hard to find the right shelter for a turtle. I'm going to put it in to where she only has one opening available for her to go through. That way, she feels a little more secure when she's hiding inside of her shelter here. Now I'm just going to fill in the rest of the tank. I'm going to add a plant. This is good for not only looks, but it helps to provide a little bit of extra shelter for your turtle. It also helps her to feel as though she's in a more natural environment. And that's fine, it will be held down by the lid. The lid will fit around it even though I have this hanging over the side. The only other thing I keep in this aquarium with her, since it is fairly small for a turtle, she does have special needs, so she doesn't have a whole lot of activity. She doesn't really need a whole lot of space. She gets outside for exercise. So I'm just going to add her food and water dishes. I keep them over here on the cooler side. I tend to put the daylight over the center or a little bit maybe over to the right a little bit, so that her food and water doesn't wilt or get warm from the heat."
