"The growth rate of a turtle is fairly slow. To, from hatching to adult size, which would be approximately four to six inches across. It takes about four to six years to develop completely to that size. Now as far as the growth rate is concerned, that depends a lot on how the turtle is taken care of. They need to have the proper temperatures and the proper lighting, proper exercise, proper diet. That's all very important and it does affect their growth rate. Now sexual maturity is reached in males within four years of age. The females don't usually reach sexual maturity until about five and a half years, but sometimes they are even not sexually mature until they reach six or even seven years. So the females take a little bit longer to mature completely than the males do."
