"On behalf of Expert Village I'm Nicole and I'm here to tell you about Uromastyx. For the Uromastyx the price range varies widely, for the Molly Uromastyx you can generally get them for just under a $100. The more expensive are going to be the Ornate Uromastyx they are the smallest but they are also the most beautiful. Depending on the area in which you live you can find the Uromastyx generally in a reasonable price. Beware if you do find a very low price on a Uromastyx this is most likely because they are imported and imported species are definitely are the ones you want to avoid. Definitely more problematic but a lot more cost effective if you are willing to put the work into it. There are several different species of the Uromastyx there are 15 identified species not all of these are available in pet stores. The more common ones that you'll find in pet stores are the African, Molly, the Ornate and the Egyptian. Now these are the four that are most commonly breed, the African out of those the African is the more rare that you would find. Most commonly you would find the Molly and the Ornate now the larger of these are the Egyptian Uromastyx they reach about 30" in total length from nose to tail. The Molly Uromastyx tends to stay around 16", the African is a bit smaller than most of them probably ranging around 10". The ornate Uromastyx is the smallest ranging around 8" or so, now out of all of these the ornate Uromastyx is definitely the most colorful more eye pleasing Uromastyx to buy. As far as personality goes I would definitely go with a Molly Uromastyx even though all Uromastyx tend to have good personality. The Molly's tend to have the best more friendly demeanor and like to held a bit more than the others. To get more information on Uromastyx you can often visit your local pet store they should have somebody employed there that is experienced in reptiles and can give you some information or at least refer you to somebody that can give you the information. You can also purchase books such as the one I have here "The Uromastyx," I love this book. Every time I pick up an animal I pick up the book that goes along with it, it answers and questions that I ever have about my animal and if I can't find it in here I go to my local vet. Not all veterinarians specialize in reptiles but there are many who do and even though you don't know any vets that have a Hematological background it's very easy for you to call your local vet. The one that you do know and ask for a referral to the veterinarian in the area that has a Hematological background. They should be able to give you a phone number for such a vet, you can also go online and look up the Uromastyx. I often found good information on my reptiles they have a lot of websites where you can actually contact other people who are collectors or breeders and can often times give you advise."
