"On behalf of Expert Village I'm Nicole and I'm here to tell you about Uromastyx. Uromastyx usually come from the desert well, actually they always come from the desert. Some from different area than others they are often exposed to toxic plants, plants that will be toxic to others lizards. But these guys are made to be able to digest these toxic plants they have a digest system that is relatively close to that of a cow. It's actually capable of eating the toxic plants and in their digestive it has a certain process the removes the toxic parts of the plant and turn it to digestible materials so that they can actually benefit from these toxic plants. Now a results of eating toxic plants would be a build up of little white crystals around the nostril areas if you see this around your Uromastyx don't panic. It's perfectly natural it's just means that your Uromastyx ate something that was toxic and this is the white crystal that form of exuding the toxics from their body. Most adult Uromastyx are stickily vegetarians this one however seems to like her worms than most adult Uromastyx. The babies however do feed on quite of few insects that are hard to fine. Such as cricket flies and some sort of worms that they find, the main diet at home in captivity should consist of a wide variety of greens. Bright red and green roman lettuces the I would definitely would advise using broccoli this is actually a vegetable that would block absorption of calcium so i don't recommend using broccoli. But cabbage Nappa cabbage don't use regular cabbage that is also a calcium blocker but the Chinese cabbage also called Nappa cabbage is a great source of calcium for the Uromastyx. You need to include some other greens such an Endives also avoid Russel sprouts no sprouts and those go along the list of calcium blocker as well. He also eats seeds such as dry beans and clover seeds no sunflower seeds they are to fatty for the Uromastyx and they get enough fat from the other foods that they eat."
