Uromastyx Lizard Shedding

"On behalf of Expert Village I'm Nicole and I'm here to tell you about Uromastyx. Another common problem in Uromastyx is their shedding. What you need to realize is that Uromastyx do not shed like most other lizards and snakes. They will shed very patchy and it will take a couple of weeks to come off now this guy is actually in process of shedding. You can see the different color patches here the unshed skin is a lo more red this is actually because of the sub straight I had him on. It was a dyed calcium sub straight, a sand and he kind of took the color on his loose skin. But what you need to do is if your Uromastyx does not shed within a couple of weeks you don't want the skin to sit there for weeks on end. They can cause some sort of infection but with the Uromastyx you can't soak it in a tub as you would other reptiles to help remove the shed. The best thing you can do to help your Uromastyx to shed is use a moist cotton ball and just kind of rub the skin off the lizards body. Don't peel it off, don't force it off when it's dried but you want to make sure that you do not soak your Uromastyx to help it shed. This is something that can cause big problems your Uromastyx can not stand the high humidity. You just need to try and wipe that off with a moisten cotton ball or cotton swab."
