"On behalf of Expert Village I'm Nicole and I'm here to tell you about Uromastyx. Often Uromastyx will appear to have some sort of burns or bite marks on their bodies. This is something you want to avoid when purchasing your specimen but this is something that can happen in your own home. Defective heat sources such as the heat rocks or heat pads you don't want to use a pad with Uromastyx but they can often times cause burns. A Uromastyx will not be able to tell if it's too hot for them they like it hot but to hot they won't be able to tell. And they can often times have burns under their bellies or bite marks are also something common along Uromastyx if kept one more than to a cage which is not recommend. Now Uromastyx have these very wide very strong jaws that are made to grind dry beans and seeds. These are very strong jaws and you want to make sure that you don't keep two Uromastyx together. Bites can cause serious infections and they often don't get along very well. If your Uromastyx does appear to have some sort of burn or bite on it's body make sure you remove anything that is causing the burn from the vivarium and make sure that you separate the Uromastyx if you have two or more to one cage. What you need to do is apply some anti bacterial ointment triple antibiotic or Neosporin works the best. You don't want to cover it the wounds heal much better when they are exposed to air but it is something that you want to make sure it does not come effected. Because if you do have an affection in your Uromastyx it will often cause death. They are not able to fight off these infections very well once they set in."
