"On behalf of Expert Village I'm Nicole and I'm here to tell you about Uromastyx. Especially with imported Uromastyx a common problem with mites and ticks external parasites, external parasites. These might there are several different of breeds that you find in on a Uromastyx so any small bug that you might find on your Uromastyx in the fold of the skin normally around the neck area here or in the loose skin around the body here. That is a good hiding places for mites and ticks up in the legs and arm pits just make sure you carefully look over your Uromastyx. If you do have mites or ticks they will appear as black or small yellowish to translucent colored bugs. As they attach themselves and suck the blood they will enlarge and will turn a little red unless they are black they will enlarge and you won't see the red. But what you can do you can go to your local pet store a lot of the local pet stores carry very safe antiparasite agents that work wonders. You will have to apply it to your reptile directly and you will also have to clean out the whole entire vivarium and this is something that lays eggs the mites and ticks do lay eggs. There eggs take about a week to hatch so even after cleaning your vivarium once your eggs may hatch. You may have a whole infestation so it may take up about 5 to 10 days total. Another problem is the ticks, ticks are generally much larger than mites and these are a bit simpler to take care of. You still have to clean the vivarium just as you would with the mites but ticks can be gently pulled off. As long as you make sure the head is removed as well its not quite as complicated a process but it's but it's also deadly to your Uromastyx if you don't take care of it."
