"On behalf of Expert Village I'm Nicole and I'm here to tell you about Uromastyx. After purchasing your Uromastyx, he or she will require a acclimation period which will usually last between 2 weeks to 6 months. This is generally where you are going to run into any problems that you will have with your Uromastyx. Now if you purchased a breed Uromastyx, you are less likely to have accidents or parasites. Generally it's much a better idea to buy a captive breed Uromastyx. As far as juveniles go, many imported Uromastyx will come dehydrated. This is because they are usually unfortunately shoved into boxes of dozens or more, no food and little water. No suitable food to provide water for these guys; they actually get their water through vegetables. Often times this is not provided this as they are being imported. Now the first thing you want to do when you purchase your first Uromastyx that you feel maybe dehydrated. Just soak it a couple of times a day not like you would a snake you don't want to leave these guys in water. Humidity will harm them but what you can do is you can soak it for about 5 minutes 2 times a day. Allow it to drink the water, usually a Uromastyx will not drink but it's possible that they will. If they don't drink it don't panic it's something that they can also absorb through their skin so that will also hydrate them again."
