Learning About a King Snake

"On behalf of Expert Village, I'm Nicole and I'm here to tell you about king snakes. This is an example of a California king snake. As you can see, he's black with yellow stripes but a lot of Californian king snakes have white strips rather than yellow strips. Their bodies are similar to that of a corn snake. They stay fairly long and skinny now. They also have the head that is rounded at the end of their body rather than larger than the neck. They often use this as a deterant for predators, they will shake their tail to distract their predators while they get away so they don't get hit in the head when they are being attacked. The color pattern varies from snake to snake. As I said king snakes come from all over the United States and some from south America as well. The color patterns from king snakes often depends on the climate of the area they live and the environment. This is an example of a female adult southern Florida king snake as you can see the pattern is very different from the other Californian king snake. But this is one of the color variations that you will find in the different types of king snakes across the United States. "
