At this point what I like to go over all of the materials need to successfully culture these insects. The first thing you need is the culture media. The appropriate type of culture media is very important. There are a variety of different types that you can use and the one that you ultimately chose can make a big difference in the overall success of the culturing. The second item that you need is water that you would mix with the instant media. You would also need the appropriate size measuring devices for the different materials, a funnel is always helpful as well. The culture vessels there selves active a yeast in a dry form, excels here which is shredded aspen material that helps provide additional surface area and the of course the fruit flies there selfs. As you would see later the proper chose of the different material that you use can make a difference between successes culturing or cultures that simply fail and they need to be restarted."
