" Hi! My name is Richard Rivas, co-owner of Black Jungle Terrarium Supply and today I am here on behalf of expertvillage.com describing the best way to bring your dart frogs from eggs all the way up through the tadpole stage. At this point, we are ready to do a water change on our tadpoles. Water changes are important because it helps to eliminate built up waste materials as well as any growth regulating hormones that may affect their growth. It is relatively simple and straight forward approach. The method that we use here is incorporates a separate bin for the waste water, a little floating fish trap that provides the straining and then we have a clean bin ready to go for the tadpoles. The first step is to basically carefully pour the water out of the old bin through the strainer to remove the tadpoles from the waste water. Although it may seem a bit harsh, the tadpoles are actually quite tough and this really doesn’t do them any harm at all. The next step is to strain out all of the waste water and then simply introduce them to the new clean bin. It is important to have your new water made up ahead of time and preferably sitting in the same room as the existing water to make sure that the temperatures are the same. Otherwise, you can run into problems from shocking the tadpoles if the temperature varies too much. Also, mixing up your water in larger batches will help provide more consistency in the water chemistry also helping to provide any type of stress. At this point, the tadpoles would then be fed and placed back on the shelf to continue development. "
