"Hi my name is Sarah and this is Halibut, and I am one of the exotic technicians here at Extra Care Animal Hospital, and on behalf of Expert Village.com, I am going to provide you with some helpful information on owning a rabbit. When you are picking your rabbit up, you always want to make your rabbit feel safe. Rabbits are ground dwelling creatures by nature. They do not really like being picked up very much, but as long as you keep them comfortable and keep them feeling safe, they are generally okay with it. When you are picking up your rabbit, you want to support the front end, and you also very carefully want to support the back end. Your rabbit should never be picked up by its ears or the scruff of its neck, as this can scare it; and rabbits can kick hard enough to break their own back. So when holding your rabbit, you always want to make sure you have one hand around their front, generally around their shoulders, and you want one hand around their rear end. This way you are keeping the rabbit close to you, and your rabbit feels comfortable and safe.
