One of the more common problems that we see in guinea pigs is Vitamin C deficiency. Vitamin C deficiency can lead to a dental and muscular skeletal problems. Sometimes the vitamin C deficiency can be inappetant, lethargy, pain or swelling in certain areas, poor bone and teeth development, dental problems and overgrowth of teeth. Sometimes the overgrowth of teeth will go into the lip or guns. Sometimes that lower teeth will overgrow and imtrap the tongue in which case those guinea pigs want to eat and now it is a life-threatening situation.
