"Hi! My name is Sarah and I am here at Extra Care Animal Hospital in Davey, Florida, today and on behalf of Expert Village.com, I am going to educate you a little bit about owning a guinea pig. It is generally not necessary to bathe your guinea pig. Guinea pigs are fairly odorless and do tend to keep themselves very clean. If it is absolutely necessary to bathe your guinea pig, you can use a mild shampoo such as one made for rabbits. You want to use nice warm, not hot water to bathe them and keep them very warm after their bath until they are fully dried. You can keep them wrapped in a towel. If it doesn’t frighten them too much, you can use a blow dryer on the cool setting. Some guinea pigs might get too stressed out. If you feel that your guinea pig is getting stressed out by out of the bath or the drying, you should discontinue immediately and let them relax. Once again you should never bathe your guinea pig just because they really do not need baths. The only time you would want to bathe your guinea pig is if they had an accident in the carrier or something like that.
