"Hi! My name is Sarah I am coming to you today from Pet Land in Pembroke Pines, Florida and on behalf of expertvillage.com. I am going to speak with you a little bit about choosing a pet snake. Snakes are relatively low maintenance in the bathing and grooming department as they do not have any sort of coat like cats and dogs do. They do however require that you at least take a look at them a good one so once a week and make sure that they are having a good shed make sure that you do not see any abnormal scales or anything like that. It is also recommended that you get them outside several times a week for some natural sunlight, you do not want to just put them outside you want to actually take them outside with you keep an eye on them to make sure that they do not get away but that outdoor natural sunlight is very important for their vitamin D synthesis. As far as shedding goes with your snake. When your snake sheds it should be in a complete and a whole piece. You will be able to tell that your snake is getting ready to shed when you see the eyes grey over. At this time you should try to give your snake an increased area of humidity either by giving it a high box with some damp spagnum mass in it or making sure that you snake is soaking frequently. If you see your snake shedding and it sheds in small pieces this will be an indication that your snake is not receiving adequate humidity and that the snakes environment would be adjusted.
