Feeding Your Pet Mouse

"Hi! My name is Sarah, I’m at Petland in Pembroke Pines, Florida tonight and I’m going to speak with you a little bit about caring for mice. As far as how much your mouse your be eating, this is pretty variable depending on the size of the mouse. Your average mouse should be consuming about 15 grams of food and 15 milliliters of water per 100 grams of body weight per day. Also, when it comes to feeding you should monitor how much your mouse is eating. This is important because these guys can tend to hide food in different places of their cage, which makes it look like they’re eating more than they actually are. When these guys aren’t feeling well and when they are sick, sometimes they will have a decreased appetite. That should be something that you should be watching out for. When you’re feeding you should only put in as much as you think the mouse will eat for that day. You should not just fill up the food bowl and leave it for the whole week, as this can make the food go bad and also makes it a lot harder for you to monitor how much the mouse is eating. If you feel like your mouse’s appetite has decreased, you should contact your exotic mammal veterinarian as soon as possible."
