"Hi! My name is Sarah, I’m at Petland in Pembroke Pines, Florida tonight and on behalf of expertvillage.com, I’m going to speak with you a little bit about caring for mice. As far as the size of your mouse’s cage goes, it should be a sufficient size for you mouse to have a good amount of activity. Anything smaller than this generally would not be recommended for a single mouse. If you decide to get two mice, obviously you would need to get a larger cage because each mouse needs to have it’s own personal space. Mice are very social creatures and can be housed together, but you should have an appropriate sized cage if you decide to have two mice. As far as bedding goes for the cage, we would recommend getting a recycled paper-bedding product. It is not recommended that you use pine or cedar shavings, as these can be really dusty and can cause respiratory irritation. Cedar shavings have been found to cause liver damage in small rodents housed on them. Whatever bedding you choose to for your mouse it should be soft enough to be comfortable for your mouse and it also should be something that your mouse can burrow in."
