Tips & Best Methods for Putting a Sleezy Blanket on a Horse

"Hi my name is Sarah Stetner I'm a expert horse rider on behalf of Expert Village. In this video I'm just showing you how to put on a blanket but we are to the step where we are putting on the sleazy because we do want his mane to go down and people do use this for warmth as well as the mane. So I just took off his halter. Now I'm getting it so he make sure that the sleazy is not inside out because there are a pain in a butt sometimes to do because they do look the same inside and outside. So you can get them inside out easily. So what you do is just go ahead and get it all scrunched up. All ready to put on the horse. Just like this. You can usually have someone hold the horse but he is pretty trained but he is pretty trained so he is good. So you just put this part up and over his head and then you have two ear holes and two eye holes. So we go ahead and do that. So there is his two ear holes and two eye holes and he is a good boy. He put is head down for me and now I'm fixing his forelock in here. Just so that his forelock is all good. So there is eye holes and ear holes. Now I'm going to come over here and make sure that all the mane is smooth and laid down flat. So in order to that you can put your hand up in here. It is very key to get the mane smooth and flat all the way down. We usually spray it first before we go to a show. We usually spray the mane so it is a little wet with a squirt bottle. So now I'm going to zip up the bottom part of the sleazy and there is a Velcro part to hold on to the zipper. You want to put the zipper back so it does not rub up against his chin area and so he doesn't run off I'm just going to put the halter on right now. So that is how you put on a sleazy and all I have left to do is just go ahead and Velcro that back part which I would just do right quick. There is a line a center line on every sleazy. You just have to look for it like right here is a center line as you can see kind of where this seams connects. So you just want to do that. Go ahead and pull this Velcro down. You don't want it to tight because it can rub but you just kind of want it so that it is tight enough to were it would stay. That is how you put a sleazy on."
